5000 Pre-Paid Calling Cards To New Recruits

Drury Hotels announced today that they will begin offering one hour of free long distance calls for guests at each of the 83 Drury Inn & Suites, Drury Inn, Drury Plaza, Drury Suites and Drury Lodge locations. Guest can make up to one hour of domestic long distance calls per day with no access charges or per-minute fees.

Drury has been testing free long distance calls for the past six months before rolling out the service to all guests, beginning Monday, Oct. 18, 2004.

"Guests have been pleasantly surprised, even shocked,” says Eric Strand, Vice President of Drury Inns, Inc. “At one time or another most travelers have been stung with an inflated long distance charge for a call that lasted just a few minutes. Until now, travelers have learned to stay away from the hotel phone.”

Strand adds that free long distance is a natural addition to Drury’s ‘all-inclusive’ approach, which already includes a free HOT! QUIKSTART® breakfast, free evening beverages and snacks (alcohol service subject to state and local law) and free high-speed Internet service.

To celebrate offering free long distance calls, Drury Hotels will be donating 5000 pre-paid long distance calling cards to new military recruits at Military Enlistment Processing Services (MEPS) stations in St. Louis, Atlanta, Kansas City, Columbus, OH, and San Antonio. Drury will also be providing hotel guests and the public with an opportunity to donate $2 at any Drury hotel location; 100% of the proceeds will go toward the purchase of additional pre-paid long distance phone cards for new recruits.

Making it a little easier for them to call family while they are in basic training is one small way to show our appreciation."

Brad Harbison recently enlisted in the military and is going through basic training in Fort Benning, GA. Brad's mother, Jeanenne Harbison, works in the Human Resources department at the corporate office of Drury Inns, Inc. "The new recruits keep very busy during basic training. They don't have much time to make a call home and when they do, they have to pay for it. After a couple weeks with a drill sergeant, they want to call home – Mom and Dad don't seem so bad after all. Those calls are priceless." she says.
